Getting a New Look
The top three plastic surgery procedures in the world are
breast implants, liposuction, and face lifts. All three are major surgical procedures;
however, neither the cost, the risk, nor the discomfort involved with any of these
surgical procedures has discouraged large numbers of women from having one or all three.
At the other end of the spectrum, various scientists and chemists work worldwide around
the clock, searching for chemical and biological solutions to breast enhancement,
cellulite reduction and facial rejuvenation. Fortunately, some significant success has
been achieved. New cellulite pills are always coming on the the market, various formulas
have been proven to be effective in reducing the facial lines of aging, and now,
Roig-MontBlanch Laboratories have successfully developed a trouble
free breast enhancement creme referred to as Volum-Bust while Tri-Medica has
developed another effective formula for breast enhancement called Grobust that comes
in either pill or liquid form. Natural Contours has another new breast
enlargement formula on the market in supporting cream and capsule forms that has been
supported by research and carries a money back guarantee. There are effective and
alternative natural solutions to larger and firmer breasts besides plastic surgery.
Enhanced Breasts
What are enhanced breasts? Enhanced breasts are defined as
breasts that look firm, smooth, unwrinkled, tight, and generally youthful. Enhanced
Breasts can also refer to breast size. Not all young females have breasts that would meet
these definitions as heredity plays a major role in breast size, shape and firmness.
Consequently, there are only three ways that a female can acquire youthful looking
enhanced breasts. One way, of course, is to be born with great looking breasts, even
though aging and the forces of gravity will eventually do their best to undo mother
nature's original handiwork. In this instance, Volum-Bust, GroBust and Natural
Contours can be of help to women who already have youthful looking breasts and would
like to keep them looking that way or to women who would like slightly larger, firmer and
fuller looking breasts.
Opinion polls generally establish that while most women do not want huge breasts, they
also do not want very small breasts. The definitions of huge and small vary considerably
among women and vary even more between women and men. Due to complex cultural factors, men
generally prefer the larger breasted look or at least the firmer, youthful look. These
differences of opinion may neither be right nor politically correct, but they clearly
exist. Since most women prefer to be deemed attractive to the male gender, these attitudes
and needs on the part of both sexes, partially explains the popularity of breast surgery,
despite the costs, risks and discomfort involved with the installment of breast implants.

The Business End-The Temporary Fix
The following is meant to enlighten, not frighten, but
don't be mistaken. Going to the plastic surgeon is not like pulling a tooth, although the
former seems more common than the latter. Despite the recent publicity from the silicone
fiasco, breast implants enjoy widespread acceptance in the medical community and are
deemed quite routine. Some plastic surgeons can perform a half-dozen or more breast
surgeries a day and the procedure is quite lucrative. Costs vary, but on average, you
can't get a quality pair of breast implants for less than $5,000 and the price is
frequently higher. What plastic surgeons will often not tell you before you have the
surgery is that the actual breast implants are not designed to be perfect - to last the
life of the vehicle so to speak. Breast implants will generally wear out after about 10 or
15 years and then you will have to get another pair. And if one goes, you will want to
replace both of them because the shape of the new one and the original one would not be
the same. How they wear out is that the implants become thinner and weaker from abrasion
and impact over time. Then they may break. Sometimes, implants last less than ten years,
sometimes they last much longer. There is no guarantee that comes with this product and
you cannot just return them for a new set, even if you don't like the way they look when
they are brand new. If you have a good surgeon, chances are you will like the way the look
of your new breasts; however, an implant procedure is still not something you can do just
once and never have to think about doing again. There is no conspiracy implied here
between implant manufacturers and plastic surgeons. There is just a limited number of
substances that can be safely placed inside the human body and so far, no one has been
able to come up with anything that will last forever.
Breast Implants
Finding A Good Surgeon
Once you have decided to have breast implants, first you
must find a reputable plastic surgeon. Do this carefully and with some research. There is
no rating system for plastic surgeons so your best bet is to try to get recommendations
from former clients. If you are unable to obtain obtain any recommendations, then at least
have more than one consultation. Horror stories abound about botched boob jobs and none of
them are funny. In general, the more expensive the surgeon's price, the more highly
skilled they may be, but you cannot really use price as a guide to quality work. Frankly,
it is just as difficult to determine the level of skill in a plastic surgeon as in any
other medical specialty but if you ask around, you can usually find someone who has
already been there and it is quite ethical for you to ask if the doctor has any clients
who he can use as references. They probably will not be able to give you any names in
order to protect patient confidentiality but it doesn't hurt to ask. You should also take
time to look at their diplomas on the wall. If the surgeon did their training at Walladoda
University in Tibet, maybe you should pass on this one. If you don't see any diplomas,
run, don't walk to the nearest exit. If the surgeon did their training in a foreign
country, this might be a negative factor, but that depends on where. There are top notch
medical schools all over the world but it could be something you want to investigate
further with the surgeon. Do not be afraid to ask about their training and credentials.
This is elective surgery and you are paying top dollar for it, so it is your right to be
selective. If the surgeon can drop names of famous or rich people who they have provided
services for, this is usually a good sign. Famous and rich people usually have ways of
finding quality because they can afford the best. Although not foolproof, this is often
the highest recommendation you will ever find; however, since surgical procedures are
confidential, there is not much you can find out about former patients. Take note that
most plastic surgeons require payment in advance. Generally this is because there is no
medical insurance involved unless it is a mastectomy procedure or injury correction.
Breast Implants - The Consultation
In process of selecting a plastic surgeon, you will be
completing part of the initial consultation during the interview because while you are
interviewing the doctor he or she is also interviewing you. The doctor will ask you
specifically about the shape and size of breasts you would like to obtain. You will be
given books of pictures of breasts to look at, most of which will be of their former
patients. These are before and after pictures. You will probably be amazed at the results
in the book and a little surprised at how many strange and even unattractive shapes that
are occupied by that part of the female body known as the breast. You will most likely go
back a second time or third time for pictures and measurements. Many plastic surgeons now
have computer programs that will take your picture and superimpose a picture of the type
of breasts you have chosen so you can have a rough idea what the new breasts might look
like on you. This is a clever and useful program but not completely accurate. After
implantation, the new breasts will not look "exactly" like the picture, but the
result should be close. At this time, you will also complete all the necessary forms and
paperwork.
Breast Implants - Considerations
After the interviews and consultations are completed, a day for
the surgery will be scheduled. Depending on the doctor, their location, and the extent of
their own facilities, the surgical procedure can be performed either at the doctor's
office or clinic or in the hospital. If the doctors office or clinic is properly equipped
and staffed, this alternative is preferable because it it considerably less costly than at
the hospital. The entire process from pre-op to post-op to release takes about four hours.
The time required can vary considerably depending on how much reconstruction is involved.
Breasts that suffer from extreme sagging usually require more extensive alterations and
possibly a complete breast reconstruction. Breast reconstruction is not the same as a
simple breast implant procedure and that issue will not be dealt with here in any detail.
Breast reconstruction may involve a breast reduction or other major repositioning of
breast tissue from one location to another. Although there may be a small amount of tissue
removal, there is no major tissue relocation in simple breast implant procedures.
Breast Implant Locations
What You Should Know?
Many women do not realize that breast implants can be positioned
in two different locations. Although the implant is positioned within the original breast
cavity in both alternatives, the most common location is on top of the chest muscles.
There are two very large groups of pectorals chest muscles that run traversal from your
side to your upper middle chest area. Placing implants on top of the chest muscles is more
common because it is faster and a less complicated procedure. Unfortunately, this location
is also the least attractive. You can spot these types of implant locations on women
almost immediately because their breasts have a rounded globe-like appearance, almost like
a ball trapped under the skin. They do not look natural. In the other less common
procedure, the implant is placed partially under the chest muscles. The muscle actually
helps to hold the implant in place and the effect is much more natural looking. Breast
implants placed in the "under the muscle" location will have a more natural
shape and slope and a less rounded, "sitting on the top of the chest look". If
you can find a plastic surgeon who has experience in performing the under the muscle
procedure, you will probably be much happier with the look.

Breast Implants - Choices
You will also have to decide what type and size of breast
implant you desire. Silicone is no longer used except in special circumstances. Saline
solution is now the most common type of breast implant and it was also the first type ever
used. There are also breast implants that contain other types of natural substances which
are thicker in consistency to mimic the look and feel of silicone which itself was
designed to mimic the look and feel of real breast tissue. However, silicone does not
break down in the body and since breast implants tend to leak over time, many patients
complained of health problems that were supposedly caused by the errant silicone. Saline
implants have one major advantage if they ever break. Saline is basically water and will
be harmlessly absorbed through the body.
Soybeans are the current vogue in
cutting edge, breast implant technology, supposedly preferred because soybeans are a
natural substance that mimic the feel of natural tissue better than water. Can you imagine
going back in time and explaining to an early 20th century soybean farmer that his beans
were going to end up as Boobs! Well, the soybean is an amazing plant, used for a thousand
things, so why not boobs? Don't be surprised though if in a few years, you might see some
women and their lawyers making claims for health problems supposedly caused by soybean
implant leakage. Biologically, no matter what it is, if it isn't natural, the body's
internal defense mechanisms don't like it and can react harshly to any foreign substance
inside the body.
Deciding on implant size is mostly preference and to some extent physiological. Some
doctors have their own ideas about what size implants would be best for your own body size
and type. If you disagree with their recommendation, they will either comply with your
wishes (most do) or you will have to find another doctor. This is usually not an issue
unless you are after the really large breast look. Some plastic surgeons are
philosophically opposed to huge implants and there are additional health complications
involved with large implants. Breast implants come in cc sizes, not cup sizes. The
definition of really large varies by body type as a 600 cc implant on a small woman would
look huge. On a large woman, 600 cc might look just right. Large implants also are more
susceptible to breakage and may even eventually cause back problems and poor posture. On a
normal size woman with average or below average sized breasts (B to A cups), approximately
300 cc, plus or minus, should compute to a C cup. On the same woman 450 to 500 cc will
average out to D cups sizes. Double DD cups usually requires high 500 cc to 600 cc
implants, but implant cc sizes depend entirely on original breast size, bone structure,
breadth of shoulders and height and weight of the individual. You will not need to know cc
size. Just communicate to the doctor what cup size you prefer and they will make the
translations into the right amount of cc's for your body type in order to achieve the
desired cup size.
Breast Implants
Making the Cut and Scarring
Most doctors use a general anesthetic during breast implant
procedures.
The doctor will make a small two to three inch cut under the breast or under the armpit.
The implant can also be inserted through an incision around the nipple. The nipple
approach leaves very little noticeable scaring because the cut is made at the very edge of
the areola where pink skin meets white skin. If this procedure is done properly, the
resulting scar is almost invisible. The underarm procedure is a little more difficult for
larger implants and certain body types but no one will see the scar unless you have your
arms up. The under-breast scar will be slightly noticeable at various viewing angles, but
will fade with time and will be better hidden as you age because even implant breasts
eventually sag a little from gravity. There are also several commercial products that
actually diminish scaring.
Internal Scarring
Although the majority of the original
breast tissue is pushed forward, some internal scaring also occurs inside of the breast
cavity because the surgeon may have to scrape away some of the original tissue in order to
make room for the artificial implant. Scar tissue forms in all types of breast
implants and although this is seldom dangerous or unhealthy, an abnormal formation of
internal scar tissue can make the new breast extremely hard, mis-shaped, un-natural
looking, and uncomfortable. Since scar tissue could virtually encapsulate the entire
breast, post-operative breast care always involves careful observation and breast
implant patients are generally advised to follow a set of manipulative procedures to
diminish the formation of scar tissue. This is not a complicated procedure for the
patient and usually involves no more than simple breast massage on a regular basis.
Many physicians feel that under-the-muscles implants are much less prone to the formation
of internal scar tissue. Women with new breast implants should heed the physician's
advise carefully about after surgery care because the formation of excessive scar tissue
will make the new breasts virtually rock hard and very un-natural looking. In
cases, where excessive scarring does occur, there are only three options for the
patient. Most commonly, the physician can break up the internal scar tissue by using
external force and manipulation. This procedure often works but it is a very
uncomfortable process for the patient. The second and third options are more
complicated and involve either additional surgery to remove the scar tissue or removal of
the entire implant. Fortunately, such extreme measures are not common and properly
installed breast implants can feel quite natural to the touch.
Breast Implants
The Surgery and the Aftermath
After the doctor has made the appropriate incisions, the skin is
peeled back and the implant is placed underneath the skin and positioned against the chest
wall. The doctor may need to remove a small amount of original breast tissue in order to
create a pocket for the new implant. However, as much of the original breast as
possible will be pushed forward as the outer wall of the implant pocket. The implant
is empty until it is placed in position and then it is filled with the saline or other
type of fluid. The entire surgery is usually completed in less than two hours. You will
spend approximately another hour or two in post-op so you can recover from the effects of
the anesthesia. You will be given a special bra to wear and sent home to rest for at least
a day or two. After the first couple of days you can resume your normal activities with
some restrictions. For the first few days, you won't feel like getting too wild because
your breasts and chest area will be bruised and feel very sore and sensitive. This should
pass after a week and you can usually stop wearing the special support bra after about 7
to 10 days. Complications can occur, but are not common.
Breast Implants
Sort of An Irreversible Procedure
During the procedure, you should realize that the doctor may
have removed some of the natural tissue underneath your breasts in order to create a
pocket for the implant to rest upon. No one will know this and you won't even miss the
removed tissue as long as you keep your breast implants. Unfortunately, any removed tissue
can never be put back, and if for some reason you want to or have to remove the breast
implants, your breasts may be smaller than they were originally before the implants. This
fact is not always mentioned in discussions between doctors and patients and is just one
example of why you should think carefully before deciding to install the latest implant
model in your chest. The alteration of breast tissue is one of most negative aspects of
breast implant surgery. You can't change your mind after its done and you can never go
back to your original self because some parts may be gone, permanently. Your
skin has also been stretched over time to accommodate the larger implant. If the
implant is removed, it is inevitable that you will end up with excess, saggy, droopy skin
over your breasts. In younger women, there is more elasticity and the skin will
tighten up considerably; however, with older women, there is less natural elasticity and
the skin will not bounce back to its original shape. Loss of sensitivity in the
breast and the nipple is another frequent side effect of breast implant surgery.
After breast surgery, your breasts can become quite impervious to touch and although
sensitivity tends to return with the passage of time, there is often some permanent loss
of nerve sensitivity in the breast area. Furthermore, there are still serious and
unanswered questions about the long terms effects of breast implants on your health and
immune systems. Implants also make it more difficult to detect breast cancer.
Detection is not impossible, just more difficult, and if you have or obtain implants you
should be more vigilant about your health in this area of your body.
A Breast Enhancement
Alternative
A third way to enhance the look of
your breasts is to treat them with the attention and care that most women routinely devote
to their face and skin. There are natural options that are specifically
designed to enhance the size, firmness and youthful look of the female breast.
These formulas were developed for the unique purpose of firming, tightening,
strengthening, and increasing the size of the female breast. All natural breast
enhancement formulas increase breast volume and fullness, while revitalizing tissues,
keeping them looking firmer and younger. All natural breast enhancement systems are
painless, non-invasive, inexpensive, and completely natural. Even if you eventually decide
that only plastic surgery will give you the look you desire, you owe it to yourself and
your natural breasts to explore alternative solutions before inserting plastic bags inside
of your chest. Try a natural solution first, be patient and give the natural system
time to work and your breasts will thank you by looking larger, firmer and more youthful
looking than you can imagine. If you already have great looking breasts, use natural
breast enhancement care formulas to keep them firm and looking great!
